SNOW DAY ALERT: Looking for something to do on a snow day? There are times, the worst of times, when the weather cancels school but doesn’t deliver fun. That’s when you need the five best things to do indoors on a snow day on the Upper West Side:

CMOM - Children’s Museum of Manhattan

Forever a favorite, people come from the surrounding Burroughs to experience the rotating, interactive exhibits at CMOM. Because it’s tailored to young children, kids are expected to run and play, making it the perfect indoor experience to get the wiggles out on a snow day!

AMNH - American Museum of Natural History

Adults and children will love the Natural History Museum. Check out their additional exhibits and book tickets ahead of time if you think they will appeal to your brood. Highly recommend the balmy butterfly exhibit on a cold day - note that some kids are a little timid around the flying creatures, as they really do have a mind of their own… not unlike some little people we know :)

Color me mine

Another winner for adults and kids, this ceramic painting studio provides the fired ceramics so that you can spend time detailing your creation. Great for kids of all ages, you can take all of your kids and their friends, such a rarity to find entertainment for all in one place. And honestly, some of their stuff is legit useful.

Barnes & Noble

Old trusty, Barnes & Noble has been there in all of our moments of need: the snow day, the too-hot summer day, the postpartum-need-to-sit-while-toddler-cruises weeks, all of them. The UWS Barnes & Noble location is huge, stocked with books & toys for all ages, and a Starbucks - you can basically move in.

The St. Agnes New York Public Library

Lest we forget, the NYPL system is one of the best in the world and contains everything under the sun. St. Agnes, the Upper West Side location, is housed in a cozy 3 story building funded by Andrew Carnegie in 1906.

Enjoy! Let us know what you think! Maybe we’ll see you there ;)
