Katie

Katie is a Chicago native with a BA in Performing Arts Management from Columbia College and a diploma from the Soma Institute for Clinical Massage Therapy (2011). As a massage therapist over the last 10 years, she has enjoyed using her clinical knowledge to help people from athletes to pregnant mamas and everyone in between.

Katie’s bodywork is deep and specific, blended together with soft strokes for a perfectly well-rounded massage experience.

Why I Love This Work

Women go through so much to grow another human and bring them into the world. If I can be a small part of making them more comfortable, I feel honored to be a part of that experience.

My Ideal Local Day

Enjoying all of the wonder that Chicago has to offer! A great meal, a walk by the lake and most definitely catching a Cubs game in the summer. I also head to the suburbs to spend time with my family including my two nephews who I adore!

Tawanna

Tawanna is a Chicago native with a bachelor's degree in Health Planning & Administration (2011) and a diploma from Cortiva Massage Institute (2014). She is also a certified Body Sculpting Technician (2021). She specializes in lymphatic drainage and post-op massage with a variety of modalities in her catalog. Tailoring treatment sessions based on the client's needs has made it a fulfilling career.

Her prenatal clients have always been a priority, and another reason she is happy to join the Glow Birth & Body team in Chicago, IL.

Why I Love This Work

I love massage and bodywork, because it's such a gratifying position. Creating change that my clients can see and feel is my happy space. Each day is always different from the last. I always want my clients to know that massage is a necessity, not a luxury.

My Ideal Local Day

My ideal local day includes family time whether it be activities at home or exploring the city. I spend my alone time writing or listening to audible, and I always make time for some true crime TV.

Why I Love This Work

Working to support women in their pregnancy & birth experience makes me feel honored and humbled because there are many nuances to women's health, so I have to be knowledgable and attentive so as to create the optimal healing space.

My Ideal Local Day

My ideal local day includes bike riding, stretching, and meditating outside.

Nia

Nia graduated from the Massage Institute of Memphis, TN, and in 2019, continued her studies at the Shiatsu School of Vermont, completing a Zen Shiatsu certification.

She draws on manual massage techniques, as well as Traditional Chinese Medical knowledge to tailor treatments to each individual.

Nia is currently pursuing a BA in the Sociology of Medicine.

Why I Love This Work

Working to support people in their pregnancy and birth experience is a unique privilege. This is such a dynamic time in a person’s life that is filled with the start of so many possibilities and I’m honored to be a part that journey.

My Ideal Local Day

My ideal local day includes dancing with my cats, exploring a new neighborhood, and enjoying a great meal out with my husband.

Cam

Cameron (they/them) always gravitated to healing arts. They graduated valedictorian of Soma Institute’s 2021 clinical massage therapy cohort and will complete their shiatsu training at Zen Shiatsu in November 2023.  Also certified in Yoga, Cam enjoys exploring breathwork and dynamic movement outside of the treatment room.

Cam values the facilitation process of creating space and reminding the body of its innate healing abilities.

Why I Love This Work

Working to support people in their pregnancy & birth experience inspires me because working with transitions and supporting life is beautiful and humbling work.

My Ideal Local Day

My ideal local day includes drinking fresh juice in the morning, cuddling my cat, biking about the city, playing, and watching the sunset.

COURTNEY

With a BA in Gender & Women’s Studies, Courtney’s massage practice centers people in the childbearing year and beyond. As a licensed massage therapist since 2015, Courtney has vast experience that ranges from sports injury to elevated spa treatments.

Her technique is integrated, using deep tissue and slower melodic work for a truly divine session.

Why I Love This Work

I like being a massage therapist but I love being a prenatal therapist. As a mom myself, I love telling my mommies, “You are heard”. It’s not often people enjoy coming to work, but since coming to Glow, as cheesy as it sounds, I have peace of mind knowing I’m helping bring at least a moment of peace and/or relief to their day.

My Ideal Local Day

My ideal local day includes eating at a new restaurant and getting a pedicure.

CAMILLE

Camille left a thriving corporate career in marketing project management to pursue wellness education and clinical treatment as a yoga instructor and massage therapist.

As a professional dancer in the Joel Hall II dance company, she experienced the benefits of movement and massage therapy first hand and became fascinated with the resultant anatomy and postural changes.

Along the journey, she became a Doula, supporting families in the intensity and beauty of childbirth.

Why I Love This Work

Working to support women in their pregnancy & birth experience is an honor. Creating space for a woman's spiritual and sacred journey lightens her load so that she can freely relax, take a break, and feel restored in order to continue to progress on her journey.

My Ideal Local Day

My ideal local day includes taking walks, drinking matcha or smoothies (or both) and practicing yoga outdoors if possible, or heated if indoors.
